THE ZINC KING

Traditional Music with an Original Sound                  Original Music Steeped in Tradition

The Zinc Kings met playing old-time music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Their music blends traditions from the North Carolina Piedmont, including old-time, early bluegrass, Piedmont blues, and folk songs, with their songwriting and arranging sensibilities. The Zinc Kings' high-energy performances have earned them top prizes at folk festivals across North Carolina. Equally at home on the festival stage or the theatre stage, The Zinc Kings' original music for Shakespeare’s "As You Like It" (with the Piedmont Council of Traditional Music, Raleigh Little Theatre and Bare Theater) was nominated for Best Original Music by IndyWeek. The Zinc Kings' upcoming album is their most ambitious yet, featuring original music recorded live in the historic Sunset Theater in Asheboro, North Carolina. They continue to be inspired by the people and places in North Carolina that have made the Piedmont their home.
